Pilipino Veterans
Singled out
by Jason Lin
If you're one of those who are not too involved in politics or if
you do not vote last election. Here's a chance to makeup for it.
A way to help Pilipino Veterans.
|
The problem:
The rescission act of 1946 was passed by the 79th Congress that stated
that services performed by Filipino Veterans under the US flag in World
War II, "shall not be deemed active service for purposes of any law
of the United States conferring rights, privileges, or benefits."
Sounds fair? This basically
means that others such as German, French, & other allied veterans
who fought under the US flag got noticed for their services while the
Filipino Veterans were singled out.
The Solution
The Veterans Equity Act is an bill that is introduced to the 104th Congress
that will ammend the Rescission Act of 1946. This means if the bill is
passed it will allow Filipino Veterans to receive veterans benefits.
Asian Americans or Americans
who want to help this injustice can vote to support this bill. Regrister
today. You can also contact the following congressmen who have not signed
on as co-sponsors for the Equity Bill.
