Infomericials
waste money
by Gina Lee
Before you go investing your money on some miracle excercise gadget,
read this to get a real understanding of infomericals. Everyone knows
that losing weight isn't easy, matter of fact you would be surprised
on how much money consumers spend on weight loss products. From diet
foods, workout clubs, to those annoying infomericals. It's a market
that has always been a rich gold mine for many companies. But the
big questions is: Do they work? |
Majority of these speacial
exercise gadgets are false promises. Picture this if you will, you sitting
at home and you see a infomerical where a celebrity is trying to convince
you how great this product is. Chances are, you're better off saving your
harded earned money.
One good example is the Ab Roller. It promises to give you a six pack
look just by excercising few times a week. The device may help you strengthen
your abdominal muscles but in order for you to get a six pack look using
this device it would take around 250,000 times to burn one pound of fat.
This coming from Glenn Gaesser author of "The Spark". Plus it's
also considered a health hazard for your back. So injury is another concern.
Then there's the ab rocker. This device is considered to be 80% less effective
than a traditional crunching excercise. This coming from a study by San
Diego State University. Other hyped devices that do not live up to their
promises is the Thighmaster, Buttmaster, and the Butterfly. They may work
muscles but not the ones you need to use to burn fat. Then there's the
Tony
Little's Freestyle Gazelle. They say that you can burn 1,000 calories
in one hour. This is a false advertising at its best. Think of it this
way, it would take a average woman to run a hour at a 9 mile lapse to
burn just 685 calories. Do you really think that sitting on this maching
and working you body is gonna burn 1,000 calories?
The truth is the best things that are available are free. Your better
off doing the traditional excercises than wasting money on these hyped
wonders. So why do soo many people invest on these things? Let's face
it doing traditional excercises can be boring, but the devices make it
a little entertaining. Plus the big reason people use it because they
infomericals promise quick results in little time. This is where the money
is going, these false promises of quick results because the device has
some magic in it.
