Can BH Kim bounce back? by Dan Lee

We all remember what happen last world series. The Yankees will in a hitting slump as a team. The Dbacks had them in check, then all of a sudden here comes a 22 year old kid, the first Korean Player to play in the World Series. Every Korean baseball fan out there was expecting a great outing for Kim. People in Seoul, and every major city had it their television set whether if they were in the airport, office, or shopping mall. The whole country froze for that breif moment to see Kim pitch the the great Yankee dynasty players. He got his first two outs from striking out the first two. Then comes Tino Martinez and boom! He gets a homerun. Brenly (The Dbacks manager) was confident that Kim would withstand the pressure even after the tie homerun. But then in the extra innings, Derek Jeter hits the game winning homerun on Kim.

Kim was shocked, the Dbacks were shocked, the city of Seoul was shocked, heck even the Yankees were shocked to pull such a story book performance off Kim. The media has been covering the story like it was a fairy tale story. Then Kim does it again, this time its Scott Broisus who hits the homerun costing the Dbacks another victory. That was the last we saw of Kim. But the Dbacks get revenge on game 7, versus Marino Rivera the king of all closers. Gonzo hits a game winning hit towards Rivera, and thus breaks the Yankee mystique.

But the big question that everyone wants to know is: Can B Kim make a strong comeback? He took a big mental blow last world series and everyone is questioning his mental toughness after such a horrible performance last year.

My take:I think Kim can still make a strong comeback if all the cards are played right. Brenly believes in Kim. He stated that Kim was in more pressure situations before. BH Kim had to win the Gold medal for Korea to be relieved from Military duty to play in the big leagues. Whether as a set up man or closer, Kim needs to get solid innings the first few months then you'll see a more strong season for Kim. Key point: the first two months, Kim needs to get a solid performance to break out of that slump. The media will track him under their micropscope and if Kim's makes one mistake they will blow into a story. However, if Kims performs strong first two months, he should get the writers off his back and in a comfort zone. The odds are in his favor. The Manager believes in him. That's a good start.
